Automatic Bilge Pump Operation
The Osculati automatic float switch operates by responding to changes in the water level inside the boat's bilge.
As water accumulates, the float rises.
When the float reaches its switching position, the internal mercury-operated mechanism closes the electrical circuit, allowing a correctly connected bilge pump to operate.
As the water level falls, the float lowers and the switch opens the circuit, stopping the pump.
This allows a compatible electric bilge pump to operate automatically without the operator needing to switch it on and off manually.
Suitable for 12V & 24V Marine Electrical Systems
The Osculati float switch is rated for operation between 6V and 32V DC.
This makes it suitable for many marine electrical systems, provided the connected load remains within the manufacturer's maximum rating.
12V Bilge Pump Systems
At 12V DC, the switch is rated for a maximum load of 120W, equivalent to 10A.
24V Bilge Pump Systems
At 24V DC, the same 120W limit corresponds to 5A.
Check the pump's actual electrical requirements, including start-up current, before connecting it directly to the float switch.
For pumps exceeding the permitted switching load, an appropriately specified relay arrangement may be required.
