Fineline/Nautilus
Dyneema Single Braid Rope | High-Strength Low-Stretch Marine Rope
The Dyneema Single Braid Rope from Fineline/Nautilus is a premium 12-strand, 100% Dyneema® SK75 rope designed for sailing, marine rigging and other applications where exceptional strength, minimal stretch and low weight are essential.
Dyneema® offers an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, allowing remarkably high breaking loads from relatively small rope diameters. Available from 2mm through to 6mm, this single braid is ideal for everything from lightweight control lines and lashings through to high-load strops, soft shackles and specialist yacht rigging.
The 12-strand construction is particularly well suited to splicing, allowing strong, lightweight eyes, loops and custom rigging components to be created without relying on bulky knots. Its smooth construction also makes it an excellent choice for modern performance sailing applications where reducing weight and stretch can improve responsiveness and sail control.
Dyneema® has very low water absorption and excellent resistance to UV, abrasion and many chemicals. With a specific gravity below water, it also floats, making it particularly useful for dinghy, yacht and general marine applications.
Sold by the metre, Barton Marine NZ's Dyneema Single Braid allows you to purchase exactly the length required for your next sailing, boating or rigging project.

Why Choose Dyneema® Rope?
Dyneema® is widely used in modern yacht rigging because it combines very high tensile strength with exceptionally low weight and stretch.
Compared with conventional polyester rope, Dyneema allows sailors to achieve high strength using a smaller and lighter line. This makes it particularly valuable for performance applications where reducing weight and maintaining accurate line length under load are important.
Its low stretch also helps provide more direct and responsive control in sail-control systems.
Ideal for Soft Shackles
The 12-strand construction makes this Dyneema Single Braid particularly suitable for creating soft shackles.
Dyneema soft shackles can provide a lightweight alternative to conventional metal shackles in appropriately designed applications, helping reduce weight and eliminating hard metal fittings that can damage decks, spars and other equipment.
Different diameters allow you to select the appropriate line for the load and application.
Ideal for Strops & Loops
Dyneema Single Braid is also an excellent material for creating custom:
- Block strops
- Rigging loops
- Lashing loops
- Attachment loops
- Equipment tie-downs
- High-strength eyes
- Custom marine fittings
A properly constructed splice maintains considerably more rope strength than many conventional knots, making splicing particularly valuable with high-performance Dyneema rope.
