Technical Specifications

Note: This product removes rust staining. It is not a rust converter, structural corrosion treatment or rust-prevention coating.

Remove Rust Stains from Fibreglass Boats

Fibreglass boats can develop orange or brown rust marks around stainless-steel fittings, deck hardware, railings, screws and other metal components.

These stains are particularly noticeable on white fibreglass and gelcoat.

Starbrite Rust Stain Remover is formulated to help dissolve rust deposits without aggressive scrubbing, making it useful for cleaning suitable areas around:

• Stainless-steel deck fittings

• Railings and stanchions

• Cleats and mounting hardware

• Fasteners and screws

• Anchor lockers

• Hull and transom surfaces

• Deck fittings and hardware

Always test a small inconspicuous area before applying to an unfamiliar or delicate surface.

Fast-Acting Spray-On Formula

Starbrite Rust Stain Remover is designed for straightforward application.

The manufacturer recommends allowing approximately 1–2 minutes for the cleaner to act on the rust stain before rinsing with fresh water.

For stubborn stains, a second application or light scrubbing may be required.

This makes it a practical alternative to trying to remove rust discolouration using abrasive cleaning methods.

Ideal for Marine Rust Runoff Stains

Saltwater and moisture can accelerate corrosion of susceptible metal components.

When rust-containing water runs across a boat's deck, hull or painted surface, it can leave orange and brown staining.

Starbrite Rust Stain Remover helps remove this discolouration from compatible surfaces.

Common areas affected include:

• Deck screws and fittings

• Metal brackets

• Rail mounting points

• Anchor chain lockers

• Trailer components

• Hardware exposed to saltwater

• Areas affected by corrosion runoff

Removing the stain improves appearance, but any underlying corrosion should also be addressed to help prevent the staining from returning.

Suitable for Multiple Surfaces

Fibreglass and Gelcoat

Useful for removing rust staining from compatible fibreglass boat surfaces, particularly light-coloured hulls and decks.

Painted Surfaces

Can help remove rust stains from compatible painted surfaces when used according to the manufacturer's directions. Test an inconspicuous area first.

Metal

Suitable for cleaning rust staining from compatible metal surfaces. It does not replace proper treatment of actively corroding metal.

Vinyl and Fabric

The manufacturer identifies vinyl and fabric among potential applications. Always test a hidden area for compatibility and colourfastness before use.
