The ACR ResQLink 410 RLS Personal Locator Beacon is a compact, buoyant emergency beacon featuring Return Link Service (RLS), providing an important extra level of reassurance when you’re boating, sailing, fishing, tramping, hunting or exploring remote areas.

When activated in a genuine emergency, the ResQLink 410 RLS transmits your distress alert through the international Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. Its integrated GPS and Galileo GNSS receiver provides accurate location information to assist search and rescue authorities in locating you as quickly as possible.

What sets the ResQLink 410 RLS apart from conventional PLBs is Return Link Service technology. Where RLS is supported, the beacon receives confirmation through the Galileo satellite network that your distress message has been received and your location detected. This provides valuable reassurance during an emergency when you may otherwise have no way of knowing whether your distress transmission has successfully reached the rescue system.

Designed for demanding marine and outdoor environments, the ResQLink 410 RLS features built-in buoyancy, rugged waterproof construction, a visible strobe and infrared strobe, and a compact body weighing only 148g.

There are no subscription fees required for standard PLB emergency functionality, making the ResQLink 410 RLS an excellent safety investment for New Zealand boaties and outdoor adventurers.

What is Return Link Service (RLS)?

Return Link Service is one of the most important features of the ACR ResQLink 410 RLS.

Traditional PLBs transmit an emergency distress signal but provide no indication to the person carrying the beacon that the signal has been successfully received.

With RLS, the ResQLink 410 can receive a confirmation signal through the Galileo satellite network indicating that:

Your distress message has been received and your location has been detected.

This does not mean rescuers have already arrived or that two-way communication is available. Instead, it provides valuable confirmation that the satellite rescue system has received your alert.

RLS availability depends on the country and rescue system supporting the service.

How the ACR ResQLink 410 RLS Works

In a life-threatening emergency:

  1. Deploy the antenna.
  2. Position the beacon with the antenna pointing towards the sky.
  3. Manually activate the PLB.
  4. The beacon transmits your encoded distress alert through the 406MHz Cospas-Sarsat system.
  5. GPS/Galileo GNSS provides your position.
  6. Search and rescue authorities receive the distress information through the appropriate rescue coordination system.
  7. Where RLS is supported, confirmation is transmitted back to the beacon indicating that the distress message has been received and your position detected.

The beacon must be above the surface of the water with its antenna pointing skyward to operate correctly.
